Lucas Lodge has multiple hiking opportunities for guests. There are three main trails accessible from Agness:  the Upper Rogue River Trail, the Lower Rogue River Trail, and the Illinois River Trail.  Hikers can enter the beautiful Lower Rogue River Trail across from Lucas Lodge next to the Library/Community Building. This is the East trailhead #1168. The trail continues twelve miles downriver, a wonderful day hike, passing places like Copper Canyon, with lots of wildlife.

It is a  short drive to access the Upper Rogue and Illinois River Trails. The Illinois Trail begins at Oak Flat and ends at Silver Creek and is approximately 27 miles following the course of the river.

The Upper Rogue River Trail entrance is approximately three miles past Agness. A spectacular scenic 42 mile long trail, it continues east along the river passing many historic sites, including Paradise Lodge, the famous Blossom Bar Rapids, Mule Creek Canyon, and the Rogue River Ranch Museum at Marial. The trail ends at Grave Creek, 34 miles from Grants Pass.
